Liv Downing has over 20 years of experience working with organizations and individuals to support them to work and live to their fullest potential. She is a Registered Psychologist, Coach and Meditation Teacher (full registration with MA) and offers psychological counselling and consulting to individuals, groups and organizations.
Liv began her career working with children with autism and learning delays and then moved into working with young adults within a psychosocial rehabilitation setting. After completing her post-graduate studies, she moved into organisational psychology and then worked at a Medical Centre offering psychological counselling in private practice. It is here she was trained in Mindfulness-Based Therapy and she immediately recognised the power and efficacy of this technique for both individuals and organisations.
Following a three-year period living in the United States, where she set up Liv Mindfully, she returned to Australia and became part of the team to design and deliver programs for Smiling Mind - an Australian NFP offering mindfulness solutions across sectors.
In addition to offering mindfulness-based workshops to schools and organisations, Liv now works with The Talking Cure, assisting adult clients in areas related to wellbeing, relationships, work and health concerns. She adopts a range of techniques and tools (amongst them are Cognitive-Based Therapy, Relaxation Skills Training, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Mindfulness Based Therapy) to support the therapeutic process and sees herself as a partner on her client’s journey to health and wellness. She especially enjoys working with women of all ages.
She also works at Monash University, under the supervision of Dr Craig Hassed, to teach within the Medical Faculty. She is a board member of Meditation Australia (MA).
