Dr Rafaela Karas is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist fully registered with the Psychology Board of Australia.
Rafaela has 9 years of experience providing specialist psychological services to children, adolescents and adults. She has specialist training in child, adolescent and family psychology and has held a number of positions within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) in public health settings. She currently works as a Clinical Psychologist at a specialist clinic in Monash Health.
Rafaela provides therapeutic work for people that experience a wide range of mental health difficulties. Her areas of expertise include emotional and behavioural difficulties in children and adolescents, attachment disorders, parent-child relational problems, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), identity confusion, grief, trauma, relationship problems, depression and anxiety disorders. Rafaela also provides specialist services for transgender, non-binary and gender diverse people.
Rafaela has a passion for the work that she does. She has a warm and gentle approach and strives to provide a safe a supportive therapeutic environment. She works together with her clients to help them develop an improved understanding of themselves and the difficulties they face so that they are able to move towards living a more fulfilled life. Rafaela places emphasise on improving parent-child relationships and aims to provide parents and families with therapeutic skills to support the social and emotional development of their children.
Rafaela offers medium to long-term therapy. She largely draws on insight-orientated therapeutic approaches as well as other evidence-based interventions including Mindfulness-based therapies, play therapy and attachment-focused therapies amongst others.
Rafaela is a member of the Australian Psychological Society (APS) and the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA).
Rafaela is currently accepting referrals for clients of all ages. She is not a provider for TAC, WorkCover, and Comcare and does not provide medico-legal reports.
